After a number of years your wonderful big screen may not have the sharpness that it once had. the picture has gotten a bit dull and dark. In everyday use, it accumulates dust and dirt over the optical components also Picture tubes or “CRTs” deteriorate with usage.
This is especially true with projection type televisions. The three CRTs (One for each primary color: Red, Green and Blue) do not age at the same rate. One may be stronger or weaker than the other two. This can throw off color temperature and black & white tracking alignment of the display. A black-and-white picture is no longer shades of gray, but has a pronounced colored tint to it. Flesh tones are inaccurate. Also color convergence, electrical focus and picture geometry can drift somewhat with age.
Not to worry in about a one hour or two we can bring back the brilliance of yesterday!!
We recommend the Tv Tune Up service at least every other year. When I clean my glasses, I am always amazed by how much more clearly I can see. The same is true with all big screen TVs.
The situation is worse on LCD or DLP Projection TV
The effective cooling of your LCD or DLP TV is crucial for trouble free operation and a long projector life. Dust filters need to be cleaned regularly to ensure that the projector is properly ventilated and does not overheat. This is vital to the life of both projector and lamp. The interval required between each cleaning of the dust filter is dependent on the projector usage, as well as the operating environment. Naturally, extended use or a dusty environment will necessitate more frequent cleaning. The rule of thumb is about once every 3 months but at least every 200 operating hours. Problems resulting from allowing the filters to become clogged can include one or more of the following temporary or permanent problems: • Poor image quality and/or uniformity. • A "Hotspot" in the middle of a projected image caused by an overheated LCD module. • Lamp fusing or shortened lamp life. • A burning smell caused by the optical engine melt down. • A temporary or permanent projector shutdown caused by an overheated temperature safety switch or a repeatedly over-heated power supply.
Your Big Screen Projection TV is an expensive asset –a little maintenance will make it last!
Lastly, many home service plans for this projection TVs include a "once-a-year" tune-up where a technician will come out to your home, open the set, clean out all the dust and check for the proper color and contrast balance. If you have invested a lot of money in your projection TV set, this service is well worth it to keep it top notch condition, if you choose to take advantage of it.
On rare occasions we may find that a TV requires one or more parts while the Preventive Maintenance is being performed. The transaction will then be processed as a repair order, and you will receive a repair estimate that will require your approval to proceed. As a repair order, all labor and parts charges to that effect will apply.
